Direct Help & Advice is an independent charity that provides information and advice around debt and housing issues. We provide effective, specialist advice, advocacy & representation for people that would otherwise not be able to access these services. We secure their basic needs, protect and preserve their legal rights, provide equal access to Justice and seek fairness and dignity for all our clients. In the Family Law department, we will be offering all our clients an initial 30 mins free (either in person or by phone) and as part of that will assess if they are likely to be eligible for legal aid (as it’s not that straightforward with family law!). We will cover all private children law proceedings, Care proceedings, Adoption, Special Guardianships, Child Protection Conferences, divorce & finances, and domestic abuse injunctions (which includes non-molestation orders, occupation orders, and transfers of tenancy). We can cover all of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
